Scholarships
In the 2022-23 school year SCHS students were the recipients of over 30 local scholarships earning more than $100,000. It PAY$ to take the time to research scholarship opportunities and apply! The SCHS Counseling department will list current local scholarships below. In addition, students should check the Scholarships tab in Naviance for many other opportunities based on specific criteria. Make sure you are aware of how to avoid scholarship scams.
Association of California School Administrators - Region 18 Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), and San Diego County School Boards Association (SDCSBA), will provide ten (10) $1,000 college/university scholarships for high school seniors in the San Diego and Imperial County areas. Please use the attached application and essay form. DEADLINE is March 29, 2023 (4PM).
North County African American Women’s Association - For African American females in the community as well as students who have participated in an NCAAWA Mentoring program. DEADLINE is March 31, 2023.
San Diego Chinese Women’s Association - Graduating high school seniors of Chinese descent are invited to apply for merit or need-based scholarships. The one-time award is $1500 for a student entering a four-year college program, or $1000 for a student entering a two-year community college or vocational program. DEADLINE IS March 31, 2023.
Coastal Community Foundation Scholarship (9 individual scholarships- please review link for eligibility and scholarship requirements*) DEADLINE is April 3rd, 2023.
Carlsbad Educational Foundation - 10 scholarships totaling $45,000 are available to high school seniors in the Carlsbad Unified School District who have been involved in a Foundation-funded or supported program and who meet the eligibility requirements. DEADLINE is April 3, 2023.
Woman's Club of Carlsbad - $1000, for female seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Must be active in the community.) DEADLINE is April 14, 2023.
Kiwanis Club of Carlsbad - $1000, for local high school seniors who are members of the following: Key Clubs at SCHS, Boy Scouts of America troops in and around Carlsbad CA, Girl Scouts of America troops in and around Carlsbad CA, Mira Costa Community College Service-Learning Program, Carlsbad Kiwanis officially-sponsored organizations. DEADLINE is April 15, 2023.
City of Oceanside, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship - For graduating seniors who reside in Oceanside. DEADLINE is April 18, 2023
Cal Coast Cares Foundation - more than $130,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors and foster students in San Diego and Riverside Counties to help them pursue their dreams of obtaining a college education. DEADLINE is April 30, 2023
