Community Service

Requirements, Ideas, and Form

All CUSD high school students are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of community service as stated in Board Policy 5122 as a graduation requirement. Students may begin completing community service hours during the summer after 8th grade promotion. Community service forms can be printed from the link below or picked up in the Registrar’s Office. When hours are completed, return the form to the Registrar’s Office with an attached business card or a letter from the service organization on their letterhead. Your hours will then be recorded.

Community service can be completed by working without pay for a non-profit organization that benefits your fellow man, the environment, or the animal kingdom. If you are paid for a service, it is not considered community service.  Fundraising for a team is also not considered community service.

City of Carlsbad Monthly Trail Clean Up Events

City of Carlsbad is seeking volunteers to help with their monthly trail clean up events.

 

Please click here to see the list of Trail Clean up Events and locations. Events take place on Saturdays from 8:30 to 11:30 am.

 

The city will provide a work plan and safety training at the start of each trail work event along with tools, water and snacks.  Please wear closed-toe shoes, gloves, sunscreen and a hat. In the event of rain, trail work will be cancelled.

Magnolia Elementary Power Paws After School Tutoring

Magnolia Elementary is seeking student volunteers for their "Power Paws" after school tutoring program.

 

Power Paws is a partnership to empower young learners while giving older students an opportunity for personal growth. Magnolia's goal is to reinforce academic skills while fostering relationships between students. Your time is appreciated and valued. Magnolia Lion Cubs will be successful Lancers or Bobcats one day because you invested your time.

Bataquitos Trail Cleanups

Bataquitos Trail Cleanups, First and Third Saturdays, 9 a.m.-12 noon  Help maintain trails and sensitive habitat at the Bataquitos Lagoon Preserve. Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Center is located at 7380 Gabbiano Lane, Carlsbad, 92009. The current opportunities are scheduled on February 20March 5March 19April 2April 16,May 7, and May 21, 2016.
