English Department Letter of Recommendation Procedure

1. See the counseling procedure for requests here.

For each particular teacher, coach, or administrator, print out:

  • The cover letter (click here)
  • the teacher survey (Find on Naviance under the "About Me" tab).
  • the counselor survey (Find on Naviance under the "About Me" tab).
  • EITHER the parent brag letter or a personal brag letter you write about yourself. (Find a place to enter/print on Naviance or create a new document).
  • (optional) your college personal statements

2. Compile these documents in a nice way in the order they appear above.

3. Bring them to the recommender IN PERSON to request a letter.

4. If you are given the green light from the requested recommender, add them under the colleges tab for letters of recommendation on Naviance once the window opens.

About me:

Hi there!

I am so thankful to be a part of the Bobcat nation. We foster curiosity and intentionality here which happen to be two of my favorite character traits.

I advise the student journalism program here at SCHS known as The Sage. We run an online newspaper and weekly broadcast news show for our campus. I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of my students' long-term flourishing in this course. We have a lot of fun, learn a ton, and even get to travel a bit! Nashville, San Francisco, Seattle, and Anaheim are some of the cities we've traveled to for competitions and conferences.

Now, a bit about me. I hail from a small coastal town in Maryland, so I crave Old Bay on almost everything I eat. I am a proud graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University where I received my BA in journalism and my master's degree in education. I live in Vista, California with my husband, Tyler, and our puppy, Walter. I am also a freelance writer and editor, so I'm actively applying the principles that I teach my journalism students to my own professional endeavors. That's a win-win in my book!

I enjoy living an active lifestyle, cooking LOTS of food, curling up with a good book, watching The Office on repeat, and thrifting.
