How to register for Athletics at SCHS

Go to www.athleticclearance.com

  1. If you do not have an account, please click register. If you have an account, please log in. If you forgot your password, click forgot password.

  2. Fill in your name, username and password you prefer. It sends an email verification to the email address you use, so you have to go into your personal email and click on the link that is sent to you from athleticclearance.com. (If you can not find it, check your spam or junk mail)

  3. If this is not the first time you have logged in, you will see all of the clearances you have already done. If this is your first time, or a new year, click new clearance. Choose year 2019-2020, School, Sage Creek, and Sport, and click submit.

  4. Here you will see the 5 step process. Step 1: Student Information. If you already have a student on the account, you can select their name from the dropdown menu. The only piece you have to repeat would be if you have insurance. They will ask that every year.

  5. Education History: If you selected other and are a new student (transfer student) please contact the athletic director for transfer paperwork immediately. awilliams1@carlsbadusd.net.

  6. Physician Information: Here is where you upload your physical form. The actual physical form can be found on our Athletics Page under Quick Links. Once you upload the physical, you have to click UPLOAD in order for it to actually upload to your account. Then enter the physical expiration date. Click save when finished.  (Please turn in a signed copy of this physical to the Athletic Director, Andrea Williams in Room 3012.   We always keep one on file.

  7. Medical History: Please take the time to fill this out. This will be your students emergency cards that are printed for our coaches to take with them on away games. In case of an emergency, the coach will get your child’s emergency card to give to the paramedics with any information that they need to know.

  8. Signature Forms: Please read through the forms that you will sign. This is very important information that you NEED to know. You can also download these forms so you can read them when you have more time. (Please make sure parent signature is from parent, and student signatures is students signatures)

  9. You then will get an email that explains that you have REGISTERED your child.  Please bring a signed copy of the Clearance Confirmation Form and a copy of your PHYSICAL Form to the Athletic Director in Room 3012.  Once the paperwork is turned in eligibility will be verified.   You will receive a CLEARED email once you have been cleared by the Athletic Director. You do not need to print any paperwork to tryouts, your athlete’s name will be on the roster for the coach if they are cleared.

ATHLETICS CALENDAR

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

1. All incoming freshman ending 8th grade under a 2.0 will be placed on probation per CIFSDS.


2. During each grading period, students must attain a 2.0 grade point average in all enrolled courses on a 4.0 scale.


3. Further, student athletes must make progress toward graduation each trimester. If you are taking three classes, then you must pass at least two of the courses. If you are taking four or five classes, then you must pass at least three of the courses.
 

4. For the purpose of determining grade point average, all incomplete grades shall be computed as F’s until the incomplete is changed to a letter grade. At that point, grade point average will be recalculated using the grade(s) earned.
 

5. Accounting for eligibility will be the day after school wide distribution of grades. The grades that will be counted for eligibility are six week grades and trimester grades.
 

6. If students do not attain a 2.0 grade point average in the previous grading period, they will be placed on probation for the following grading period. Student athletes are only allowed one probationary period during their 9th grade and one additional probationary period during their combined 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years.


7. If students do not bring their grades up to a 2.0 grade point average at the end of the probationary period, they will be ineligible to participate for the following grading period. 

 

Independent Study Physical Education

Independent Study-Physical Education is a course offering for a limited number of student athletes who compete as an individual at the regional, state, or national level. Student athletes must train during the school year specifically for the sport indicated on the ISPE application.  Once the completed application is submitted, it will be evaluated to determine whether or not the program proposal meets the eligibility requirements to participate in Independent Study-Physical Education. Independent Study Physical Education is only offered to students in 10th through 12th grade, 9th grade students are not eligible to participate. Completion of the application does not automatically result in approval.  

 

Timeline

▪ Applications will be available at the school site in April

▪ Complete applications must be submitted by June 1st

▪ Applications to be reviewed by the Independent Study PE Leadership Team and notification to students regarding program placement will be given by the end of the school year in June

▪ Students new to Carlsbad may apply upon enrollment
