Interested in Becoming a College Tutor for the AVID Program?
College Tutors play a big role in the AVID program. They facilitate small group tutorial sessions, assist with students' organization and study habits, and act as role models for our students so they can see what it takes to be a successful college student.
Please email Aida Salah (asalah@carlsbadusd.net) if you are interested in volunteering or working with our program.
AVID
What Is AVID?
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally recognized college readiness program (delivered via the elective class) designed to assist students, most underrepresented in the 4-year college system, work toward college acceptance. AVID students will become college and career ready by learning organizational and study skills, critical thinking and inquiry, receiving academic help from peers and college tutors, and participating in enrichment and motivational activities (such as guest speakers and university field trips). AVID students strive to become academically successful leaders and role models for other students. To remain in good standing, AVID students must maintain appropriate grades, behavior, and school attendance. Click here for more detailed information on AVID.
