Attendance Procedures

Please call the attendance hotline 760-331-6670 to report:

  • Your student is going to be out all day, state all day absence and the reason.
  • Your student is coming in late, state approximate time of arrival and the reason.
  • Your student is leaving early, state time of departure and the reason.
    • Students must obtain an off campus pass from the Attendance Office before leaving for appointments.To alleviate class room disruptions, please send your student to the attendance office to pick up their pass. They can do this before school, during break or at lunch depending on the time of departure. Classroom time is valuable to all students and we appreciate your understanding.

In the event a student becomes ill and would like to go home, please follow the procedures below:

  • During passing periods or at lunch, student should go directly to the health office. 
  • During class time, student should report the illness to the teacher and request to be sent to the health office. Students should not be texting or calling home.  

The health tech will arrange for parent approval for student to leave campus and disperse an off campus pass to the student. Students are not allowed to leave campus without an off campus pass, either from the health office due to sickness or the attendance office for appointments.  


TO: The parent or guardian of a juvenile with truancy issues

Operation Intersect is a Truancy Intervention Program designed to assist families whose juveniles have been identified as having issues with their attendance. Click here to learn more about Operation Intersect.

Parents; If you have received an attendance call and believe your student was mismarked by their teacher, please email teacher directly through schoolloop. The Attendance Office staff cannot make changes without the teacher's written permission.


State Education Code 48205 states that a pupil shall be excused from school when the absence is:


(1) Due to his or her illness.

(2) Due to quarantine under the direction of a county or city health officer.

(3) For the purpose of having medical, dental, optometric, or chiropractic services rendered.

(4) For the purpose of attending the funeral services of a member of his or her immediate family, so long as the absence is not more than one day if the service is conducted in California and not more than three days if the service is conducted outside California.

(5) For the purpose of jury duty in the manner provided for by law.

(6) Due to the illness or medical appointment during school hours of a child of whom the pupil is the custodial parent.

(7) In observance of a holiday or ceremony of his or her religion.



State Education Code 48260 states that a student is truant when the absence is:


(1)Absent for (3) full days without a valid excuse in (1) school year, or

(2)Tardy or absent for more than 30 minutes without a valid excuse for three (3) or more days in one (1) school year, or

(3)Any combination of the above.


The following are unexcused absences (truant): 

  • personal reasons
  • family emergency
  • vacations
  • sporting events that are not school related

Parents may submit a request in writing to have an unexcused absence considered by administration. Please submit the request to the Assistant Principal, Mr. Lord at
