Hi! My name is Ms. Barbara Bellotti. I love teaching students math because math empowers all students to any pathway they may choose in their future. Math is Power for All! I am thrilled to work with students at Sage Creek High School teaching mathematics classes and to work with a very impressive staff that I highly respect. I understand that everyone learns math at different developmental stages and learning styles, not necessarily biological age. I plan to create a safe culture and climate that enables everyone to develop their thinking and reasoning skills in math. My passion for students and knowing that they are our future gives me energy to help each student. I am strong at helping students get organized as well.
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania where I lived for 35 years and where there are extreme seasonal climate changes. The culture is very different there as well. Everyone watches and cheers for Steelers football. I grew up watching football at my home school almost every day in the fall. I lived in the country and participated in every sport that our school had for girls. I started the varsity volleyball team as a freshman in the defensive specialist position. My team also went to states my freshman year and won the championship for basketball. I was good at playing defense and hustling. I played short stop for my girls slow pitch softball team. In track I ran the 800 m, 3200 m relay and threw the discus. My 4th event we won’t talk about. I was a member of the FCA and tried to learn Spanish.
In college I opted not to play sports and focus on graduating within four years having honors in mathematics education. I paid for my college myself. I did participate in intramural sports and had a job as a teacher’s aid. I have two children that are in High School and Middle School currently. I have a chocolate lab named Hershey and a cat named Tiger. We live in the Vista foothills and love our neighborhood. We enjoy going for runs at Guajome Lake, going to the coast, going to Six Flags and to North Coast Church. As a single mom a lot of my time is dedicated to supporting my children with their sports and sometimes school work. We have crock pot meals to support our busy lifestyle, keeping in our budget and staying healthy. When I have extra time I attend turbo kickboxing classes and lift weights. Recently I started taking yoga classes.
-After moving to CA eight years ago I attended UCSD while substitute teaching and earned my CA English Language Learners Certificate, CLAD certificate.
-I have 30+ credits post baccalaureate in various classes of interest from different locations.
-I have a B.S. in mathematics with an emphasis in education.I graduated cum laude.
- I taught at Guajome Park Academy Charter school for 1 ½ years.I taught 6th and 7th grade math along with math support. I also volunteered for tutoring and chaperoning.
I was a substitute teacher for Vista High School for ½ the year teaching Algebra I and Honors Algebra II. I ran the key club while I was there.
I had various long term and short term substitute positions in both Carlsbad and Vista Unified School Districts both middle school math and high school math.
I taught in PA for four years at Reynolds Jr. Sr. High School. Most of that time I taught Algebra II, Plane Geometry and Access Math (integrated Algebra I and Geometry). I was also pulled to teach 7th and 8th grade math at various times because of my strong understanding of math. I coached JV Volleyball, 7-8th grade cross country and was an assistant to girls softball. I volunteered for everything. I received the tribute of time award two times as well as being recognized in Who’s Who Among American Teachers. Once having children I opted to stay at home and take a few classes here and there.
