Analia Loevenguth

¡Hola! I’m Profe Loevenguth (formerly Carlsson) and I am a Spanish Teacher and Field Hockey Head Coach at Sage Creek High School. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and moved with my family to Encinitas in the 5th grade. I graduated from Torrey Pines High School knowing two things: I would never leave San Diego and that I was going to work and study to become a teacher. While attending Cal State San Marcos, I held various positions in different San Diego districts. My experience in coaching field hockey and gymnastics since I was a freshmen in college has molded the type of leader that I have become in the classroom. I devote every bit of myself into each moment that I am with my students, and enjoy seeing the results of their perseverance, growth and progress. I incorporate lessons that go beyond grammatical lectures and venture into the culture of the Spanish Speaking world. I portray to the students what I have learned and observed from living in Argentina for half of my life and also traveling to nine Latin American countries. I have begun a new tradition where every time that I travel to a Latin country, I put together in a movie format a collage of pictures and videos of what I saw and learned. I am committed to stimulate the students’ curiosity of the foreign culture, and consequently their interest of acquiring the Spanish language.
